- "Be A Bright Spot" Sunflowers grow in Central Texas, both in cultivated fields and on roadsides. Sometimes, the wildflowers pop up in the most unexpected places, standing in a cracked sidewalk or right in the middle of an open field. But though they can take over fence lines or backyard gardens, the yellow blooms of a sunflower always make me smile. They are a bright spot in our landscapes, even on cloudy days.
