- Hi, I’m Sam – a mixed media artist and biology nerd aspiring to become real life Louise Belcher. I grew up in Waco, Texas, where I was raised by two loving parents, alongside the warmth and moral guidance of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I graduated from Midway High School in 2007, and then from the Paul Mitchell Academy of Austin in 2008ish. I have spent the remainder of my life working as a hair stylist and wishing I had gone to medical school. I learned recently that sentience is beyond the scope of scientific observation for any organism who lacks the ability (or chooses not) to communicate in ways perceivable by human senses. And also that free will is a giant question mark. While this information frolics around my manic brain, I like to make things out of clay and learn about the human body for no particular nefarious reason. Every once in a while, the stars will align and I find an opportunity to play video games with my best friend James Carmack, who tirelessly does actual transformative work helping animals in Central Texas who are down on their luck. When he is busy being an authentically good person, I like to play Cult of the Lamb. My sense of wonder and curiosity know no bounds, and this is in no small part due to incredible mentors in science and art that I have come to know in recent years at McLennan Community College. Life is an imperceivably small blip on the unfathomable timeline of the universe, and every moment is an opportunity to begin again. Viva la rèsistance! (Just don’t blame Canada.)
