- Description
- This sculpture is dedicated to the idea that a community of citizens thrives and is most able to accomplish its goals when the spirit of friendship pervades its daily life. Children are used as the main subject of the sculpture because of their attitudes of fun, happiness, curiosity and innocence. They also represent the four major cultural groups of Waco's population. The animals in the grouping are important reminders that human existence is a shared reality. The lamb, together with the boy holding him, represents the farming and ranching industries that helped make Waco a prominent central Texas city. Skipper, the dog, symbolizes faithfulness and watchfulness. The turtle symbolizes the idea of eternity.
